DureTek conducted several tests and demonstrations for military operability of Republic of Korea military.
Test lists
- Measurement of projectile velocity and kinetic energy
- Evaluation of barrel durability
- Check performance within ROC
- Tactical operational evaluation
Results
All performance specifications of the ROC in contract for the Rapid Demonstration Acquisition Project were satisfied, and operational tests were conducted to confirm the suitability for military operation, including tactical shooting, over five times. The performance of two calibers, 5.56mm and 7.62mm, while not modifying the firearms currently operated in the field, automatic and single-shot shooting, and additionally improved automatic rifles, K-15(5.56mm) and K-16(7.62mm) that are being supplied to the military. In the presence of the DTaQ, the possibility of shooting more than 10,000 rounds was confirmed.(Durability test)
Including the gelatin test of the man-stopping power / the penetration power of the armor-steel-plate/the concentration within the effective range were tested in consideration of counter-terrorism and field tactical situations, even passed all military applicability tests by the ROKA TEST & EVALUATION GROUP. In addition, the best performance was confirmed, including straightness after 10T of glass penetration and anti-personnel lethality after block penetration assuming street battle. Small arms ammunition was developed in consideration of the operational environment in urban areas, and its combat power will enhance dramatically due to Dr16A1 increased penetrating power compared to the current small arms ammunition, which greatly improved the killing effect.
- Effective Range(3.5t steel-plate penetration): 5.56mm CP at 700m / 7.62mm CP at 1,000m
- Penetration(Armor500, 6.5t): 5.56mm / 7.62mm CP completely at 100m
Dr16A1 will apply to all forces, such as small arms, anti-aircraft weapons, and machine guns due to verification of performance. It will be greatly effective in increasing the power of conventional weapon systems. In addition, when developing a new weapon system, there are maximization of operational performance, weight reduction, and budget reduction to apply HPP technology.
